Slumdog Millionaire without the songs (or the millions)...

Irfan Kamal’s Thanks Maa gives a vivid snapshot of life on the streets of Mumbai. The young protagonist, Municipality, is drawn into a world of dark secrets when he attempts to unite an abandoned baby with its mother. Coping with poverty and abuse, his hunt finally leads him to the mother, an experience very different to his expectations. Director Irfan Kamal turns sensitive subject matter into a powerful and beautifully photographed film; and the street children playing the key roles are unforgettable screen naturals.
