Ian’s interest in film practice began during his degree studies in Graphic Design and Animation. On completion of his BA, he spent two months in New York learning how to use a 16mm camera and
directing his first short. After moving toLondon Ian worked as a post production runner and editorial
operator beforebeing employed as a teaching assistant at London’s branch of the New York Film Academy. His second short film, Def,was produced with money from Short Circuits in Yorkshire. It screened at many festivals internationally and won prizes as diverse as Best Short at the New York
International Children’s Film Festival and the top prize and audience award at PiFAN – a fantasy and horror festival in South Korea.

Ian is intending to develop Outcasts, his final film from the NFTS, into a feature film with the involvement of many of the same cast and crew.
