Sorrow and Joy (Sorg og glæde)
Jakob Cedergren, Helle Fagralid, Nicolas Bro, Ida Dwinger, Kristian Halken / Fiction / Danish
A profound study of the extremes of human tragedy.
Johannes, a successful film director, returns home from a conference to find that his wife Signe has killed their infant daughter. Instead of turning against his wife, Johannes sets about trying to save her from the legal system, aided by Signe's pupils and their parents, who want her to be cured and to return to work. A humane and deeply moving testament by one of the greatest contemporary filmmakers. [12A]

We were overwhelmed and had I felt able to speak at the end of the film [ which i wasn't] I would have thanked Nils Malmros with all my heart for demonstrating so movingly the healing powers of love and acceptance.
