A mother will go to any lengths to protect her son from his own mind.

Patrick, an adult schizophrenic, is on leave from the hospital in his mother's custody to celebrate his birthday. Wandering off on his own, he meets Karen, a troubled older woman who ignores the clear warning signs and has an affair with him. Patrick's mother, with the aid of a police detective, tries to extricate her son from his growing involvement with Karen. Outstanding performances by Moe Dunford and Kerry Fox galvanise this moving and unsettling drama. [15]
