Corinna Kirchhoff, Kathleen Morgeneyer / Fiction / German
Two women, completely different in personality and background, form a strange bond in a disorienting Berlin. Reserved, self-possessed schoolteacher Agnes comes to Berlin from her rural town in the hope of finding her missing 15-year-old daughter. Her desperate search takes her to railway missions, junkie hangouts and homeless shelters. One night, she crosses paths with Ines, a younger homeless woman who, claiming to be an artist, cajoles and menaces her way into Agnes' life. A provocative work from director Maria Speth, who won attention for her previous two features, The Days Between and Madonnas.
