Off the Beaten Track
Transylvania transported into the new world.
Marginalised by the rise of industrial food products, wary of looming competition, and tempted by the lure of high salaries, teenage Albin Creta and his family of shepherds struggle to adapt to the culture of the ‘new world’. Tracking their day to day routine for a year, director Dieter Auner identifies their efforts to hold on to traditions that are gradually being replaced by modern values, in this warm, sensitive exploration of the implications of EU membership.
