More success for Kells

Things just keep getting better for Tomm Moore as his enchanting animation, The Secret of Kells, has picked up yet another award.

The film has been a stellar success since its premiere at the Festival and just this week it scooped the award for best European Animated Feature at the British Animation Awards.

Allied to the Standard Life Audience Award at EIFF 2009 (your taste is impeccable!), it's made for a great year for director Tomm Moore, who laboured on the mainly hand-drawn animation.

It may have lost out against the big guns at the Academy Awards but Moore is far from downbeat and full of praise for the role of EIFF, calling Edinburgh a 'massive film festival'.

Moore's success is a great reminder that EIFF is, at its heart, a festival of discovery. We couldn't be happier for him.

It also lends an air of excitement to the 2010 programme launch - what will be this year's big discovery?

All will be revealed on 1 June...
