Every year, EIFF Young Programmers select films and curate the youth section of the festival's main programme.
EIFF Young Programmers is open to teenagers aged 15-19 yrs old who are interested in viewing and selecting films for the Edinburgh International Film Festival. This year, from January to April, the group have met every Wednesday to watch new short and feature films and to select the very best for EIFF.
This is an excellent opportunity for young people that are serious about film to take part in a well-established, vibrant and innovative film festival. They watch a selection of shorts and feature films – all of which are UK premieres – discuss and choose those which you believe should be included in the festival programme. After defending those choices to our Artistic Director, they then decide on appropriate scheduling depending on our audience.
All participants have an opportunity to meet filmmakers and industry professionals using their EIFF student pass which gives access to industry events, press and industry screenings and lots of other great events and benefits. In return, we ask that participants to show commitment and enthusiasm and provide us with a review of their experiences at EIFF.
The 2015 Young Programmers' strand, 'The Young and the Wild', includes an excellent selection of films that explore issues pertinent to young people around the world. To learn more about the selected films click here.
