Primary Screening: We Can Be Heroes + Q&A

We Can Be Heroes Still

On Friday 23 June we were delighted to host a packed schools screening of the new British film 'We Can Be Heroes', a moving tale of friendship and tolerance, adapted from the critically-acclaimed children's novel by Catherine Bruton. Catherine Bruton and director Claire Downes attended a post-screening Q&A, as well as two of the film's young stars, Toby Haste and Sam Cox. They answered a range of questions from pupils about the process of making the film and how it was adapted from the book. Each school who attended also received a free copy of the book to take away with them.

Secondary Screening: Freak Show + Q&A

Freak Show

"This film is lovely and hilarious. Perfect for teenagers. It also has fantastic costumes!" - EIFF Young Programmer

Our Secondary schools screening this year was Trudie Styler’s directorial debut 'Freak Show', a coming-of-age comedy-drama which tackles bullying and prejudice in flamboyant style. We were delighted that Trudie Styler could join us afterwards for an informative and wide-ranging Q&A which covered a range of topics about the inspiration behind and making of the film.

Primary Screening: Cars 3 + Q&A

This year we had two Primary screenings of the new Disney-Pixar film 'Cars 3'. Both screenings included a special Q&A with Scott Morse, the Head of Story on the film.

The two sold-out schools screenings were for different ages: Nursery – P3 and P4 – P7. At the event for younger children, pupils were able to ask questions and also participated in a short quiz with prizes for the correct answers. At the Q&A for older children, Scott Morse gave a drawing demonstration and answered many questions from his rapt and enthusiastic audience!
