For a second year, Curate-It, in partnership with Edinburgh International Film Festival (EIFF), is excited to offer two 13-week Curation Fellowships for candidates at the beginning of their careers who are keen to develop their skills in film curation. Successful candidates will learn about the practices of film curation and in the process implement their own screening event as part of the 76th edition of EIFF.
The fellowship will take place part-time over 13 weeks, during which you will work through the Curate-It digital course, receive mentoring from professional curators, and work together to share your experiences as you undertake the programme and curate your events.
The programme is aimed at beginners or those with intermediate knowledge of film curation. Upon completion you will be able to:
- Critically analyse films you want to curate
- Understand the theories and practices of film curation
- Negotiate rights to films
- Develop marketing strategies
- Create budgets and funding applications
- Implement screenings and events
- Monitor and evaluate events
- Screen events online and/or in real life
In addition to their learning, participants will be provided with a budget to implement their own online screening event(s), to be hosted on the Curate-It VOD platform as part of EIFF (taking place 18 - 23 August 2023).
These paid fellowships are open to Scotland-based talents who are marginalised by race, ethnicity, class, gender, sexuality or disability.
This programme is made possible through the Scottish Government’s Festival Expo Fund supported by Creative Scotland.
Deadline: 5pm on Friday 12 May 2023.
Informal interviews will be held during the week commencing 22 May 2023.
