The Battle of the Sexes
Billie Jean King, Chris Evert, Bobby Riggs, Serena Williams, Maria Sharapova
‘I wasn’t just playing for myself. This was for everybody.’
Tennis star and women’s rights activist Billie Jean King won a total of 39 Grand Slam titles, but the biggest match of her career took place in 1973 against former men’s champion Bobby Riggs, a self-proclaimed male chauvinist pig who declared that, even at the age of 55, he could beat any woman in the world. A rousing and hugely enjoyable documentary with a great soundtrack.

TBOTS covers the background and the game itself, and there are plenty of interviews with the big tennis players of the day. An interesting snapshot of the prejudices of not so long ago, it's amazing how much things have changed in a relatively short time.
