Frogs and Sloths: How to be an Internet Sensation

  • 75 mins

Becoming an Internet sensation: from viral hit to documentary film commission.

Documentary director and producer Lucy Cooke visited the world’s only sloth orphanage in Costa Rica last year and posted a rough-and-ready 90-second clip of the dozy critters on Vimeo (the film upload site is in residence at EIFF). The video went viral, attracting a million hits in the first week, was tweeted by Stephen Fry and Jonathan Ross and picked up by international press globally, including CNN, The Huffington Post, The Guardian and Entertainment Weekly. In conversation with Vimeo’s Jeremy Boxer, Lucy will discuss how this clip has led to a documentary commission with Discovery.
