Mike Rollo's photochemical practice explores alternative approaches to non-fiction cinema. His films are place-based, focusing on landscape, rural industry and communication cultures, with ecological thinking and mindfulness of the shifts, conflicts and negotiations to themes of obsolescence, age and decay. Mike teaches film production at the University of Regina.

Interconnectedness with the natural world is centralised in this phytogram work. The feathers of native Canadian birds are exposed upon the 16mm filmstrip, leaving ghostly imprints and traces that are reactivated as the print passes through the projector.
