Strange But True
Made with a powerful sense of atmosphere, this brooding and engrossing thriller starts with a clever left-field premise. Melissa (Margaret Qualley) finds herself pregnant five years after the death of her boyfriend Ronnie (Connor Jessup). She confronts Ronnie’s family with the idea the child could be his, piling on to their repressed grief as they try and work out the truth – which turns out to be far more terrifying than they ever imagined. Amy Ryan and Greg Kinnear turn in deft performances as Ronnie’s parents. Brian Cox and Blythe Danner also star. [15]
