Ever After (Endzeit)
Zombies ravage the landscape between fortified cities in a Europe of the near future, where two mismatched twentysomethings – tough zombie-killer Eva (Maja Lehrer) and traumatised Vivi (Gro Swantje Kohlhof) – embark on a dangerous trip across Germany. Swedish director Carolina Hellsgård’s sci-fi horror features spooky castles and zombie hordes set against a beautiful rural landscape. Ever After delivers an environmental message, too, with Earth hitting back at humankind after years of abuse. The German title, Endzeit, hints at the darkness permeating this graphic-novel adaptation. [15]
