Emma Peeters

Part of the European Perspectives Strand

A refreshingly freewheeling romp from Belgian- American writer-director Nicole Palo, Emma Peeters begins in somewhat dark territory when would-be actor Emma Peeters (Monia Chokri) decides she has reached the expiry date for women in her profession and will commit suicide on her 35th birthday. When Emma falls for Alex (Fabrice Adde), the funeral director she asks to organise her funeral, Emma Peeters heads into rom-com territory, playing like a tragicomic Frances Ha as Emma comes to laugh, love and rethink her life.
