Paranoia and Politics in American Film
Body
In the generation after Watergate and Vietnam paranoia, distrust of institutions emerged as a major theme in American film. This both reflected and set the stage for the current cultural and political moment in the United States, when distrust of the media and the government is pervasive. Frank Cogliano and David Silkenat of the University of Edinburgh, hosts of the Whiskey Rebellion podcast, will record a live episode of their show, offering context for the history of paranoia in American politics and film, before answering questions from the audience.
