Part of the Retrospective: The Future Is History Strand

Based the novel of the same name by Craig Harrison, Geoffrey Murphy’s The Quiet Earth was one of first science fiction feature films made in New Zealand. Featuring an outstanding performance from Bruno Lawrence, Murphy’s quirky sci-fi gem unfolds unpredictably and is graced throughout with striking genre imagery, the pièce de résistance of which is undoubtedly the otherworldly final shot
