EIFF has partnered with the Wellcome Trust to challenge you to make a film in a week and have it shown on the big screen at EIFF. At the Competition Launch (17th June), scientific researchers will present you with the facts and a scriptwriter and filmmaker will be on hand to help you begin your journey from fact to film! Then you have one week to write, shoot and edit your film.

Themes may include: Pandemics and Infectious Diseases; Neuroscience; Environmental Science. Whatever the topic, it’s your imagination, skill, teamwork and tenacity that will create a winning short film.

There will be Film Industry Professionals. There will be Scientists. There will be Blood, Sweat, and (hopefully no) Tears… In the words of one scientist, who shall remain unnamed:

“My work is very visual. Beautiful images of Brains. And of course, the subject matter is also very poignant.”

Think you’re up to this challenge? We know you are!

The Competition is open to 15-25 year-olds. It’s FREE to take part, and you don’t have to have made a film before. Experienced filmmakers will be on hand to help answer any production-related questions.
