ean-François Richet grew up in a Parisian suburb and worked for several years in a factory, an episode in his life serving as the inspirational basis for his films. His first feature État des lieux (1995) was selected for several festivals. Further films include Ma 6-T va crack-er (1997) and All About Love (2000). In 2004, he moved to America and directed Assault on Precinct 13.
