A teenager’s father-in-law dreams that she is a Devi (goddess) – and word spreads of her healing powers. Legendary actress Sharmila Tagore was just 13 when she played Devi, one of the most beautiful performances in cinema. Satyajit Ray is best known for his Apu trilogy, but this gorgeous, passionate work of anti-clericism is every bit as good. As the pressure builds upon her, Tagore appears on the screen as if from within a Raphael painting.

Film was brilliant. Really exciting to see Sharmila Tagore in the flesh too. Very moving film. Thought the venue looked awesome and should stay as the paradise movie hall at least for more then 3 days!
