It was Mike Leigh’s Secrets and Lies (1996) that made her a star and a first-time Oscar® nominee; she went on to shine in Little Voice (1998), Lovely and Amazing (2001), Pride and Prejudice (2005), Atonement (2007) and this year’s EIFF World Premiere The Calling.
