Coralie escapes her rural boredom by making anonymous dirty phonecalls. Frenchie wants to escape too, but is drawn moth-like to her impassive charms. All they want is a change of scenery, but the resident pimp has other ideas. From ellipses to seductive tracking shots, Côté’s masterpiece is a black and white cul-de-sac of picaresque boredom, made all the more stunning by its Cinemascope compositions.
