EIFF and Savalas are delighted to be partnering for a second year of Sound Lab, offering a unique chance for emerging sound designers to get hands-on experience in a professional environment.
This five day programme is designed to educate and inspire in the art and craft of sound design for feature films. Participants learn in the world-class film sound facilities of Savalas, one of the UK's leading sound post-production companies. Savalas has always been driven by a passion for creativity and innovation in sound and music, and in its 15-year history, has established an exemplary reputation for sound design for feature films, games, TV, commercials and interactive media. Past projects include Peter Mullen's Magdelene Sisters and Neds, Nicolas Winding Refn's Valhalla Rising and Andrea Arnold's Red Road, amongst many others.
Sound Lab participants will also get the chance to link up with our Composers Lab participants at key events during EIFF.
The 2013 Sound Lab will run from 17 - 21 June. Participants will also receive a full festival Industry pass to allow them to immerse themselves in all the events and passholder screenings on offer.
Feedback from past participants:
"The week was one of the most inspiring and exciting experiences I have ever had."
"All the sessions were useful ......... it was the practical experience working in the Savalas facilities, that I was most looking forward to, and that I found the most rewarding."
