Composers Lab

The Composers Lab offers a unique chance for emerging composers to meet with some of the most successful professionals in their field and to find out what the real score is in the world of moving image composition.

Over five days, eight composers will be invited to Edinburgh to learn from leading film composers, directors, music editors and supervisors who will lend their insight, advice and expertise. Participants will also be given a full Festival pass and invited to attend other industry events that are taking place during the Festival.

New for 2012, our composer participants will team up with our Sound Lab participants for a day of networking, collaborating and opportunities to speak with successful industry sound designers.

Applications for 2012 will open at the end of February.

2011 Guest Speakers:  Composers Matthew Herbert, Giles Lamb, Paul Leonard Morgan and Richard Blair Oliphant plus agent & score co-ordinator Catherine Manners and music supervisor Connie Farr.

The Composers Lab is funded by Creative Scotland's Creative Futures programme. Creative Futures is a programme of residencies across all art forms designed to promote the professional development, vision, connectivity and ambitions of Scotland’s creative practitioners and organisations.

Creative Futures is the largest co-ordinated residency programme in Europe. EIFF are proud to be a part of this programme supporting Scottish talent.
