EIFF and RSNO are delighted to announce further collaborations - screenings of Psycho and Brief Encounter with live orchestral score.

Following on from last week’s announcement of Edinburgh International Film Festival (EIFF) and Royal Scottish National Orchestra’s (RSNO) joint presentation of Raiders of the Lost Ark which will be a key event for EIFF we’re delighted to reveal further collaborations, cementing a three year partnership between the two organisations. The RSNO will provide the live soundtrack to Alfred Hitchcock’s Psycho in both Edinburgh and Glasgow in October, and Brief Encounter gets the live orchestral treatment in Dundee, Edinburgh and Glasgow in February, with conductor Dirk Brossé and pianist Leon McCawley.

These special events will be on sale to the general public on Tuesday 2 May at 10.00am, RSNO season subscribers can book now. More information on subscribing to this season can be found HERE.

The Bates Motel, that strange young man, the horror behind the shower-curtain – there’s never been a thriller quite as terrifying as Alfred Hitchcock’s Psycho. And there’s never been a film score quite like Bernard Herrmann’s: those stabbing violins have been the soundtrack to all our nightmares. So give yourself the fright of your life with this big-screen showing, with Herrmann’s score performed live by the RSNO. It’s never felt quite so real: join us – if you dare…

Booking for Glasgow and Edinburgh open soon.

Brief Encounter

Usher Hall, Edinburgh: Fri 16 Feb 2018: 7.30pm
Glasgow Royal Concert Hall: Sat 17 Feb 2018: 7.30pm
Dirk Brossé Conductor
Leon McCawley Piano

“I love you. You love me too. It's no use pretending it hasn't happened, ‘cause it has.” Celia Johnson, Trevor Howard, a station buffet…and one of cinema’s greatest romances. David Lean and Noël Coward’s classic weepie is perfect for a late Valentine’s date – or for anyone who wells up when they hear the music of Rachmaninov. With the RSNO and pianist Leon McCawley performing the soundtrack live while the film is shown on the big screen, this is going to get emotional. Bring a hankie – or two.

Booking for Dundee, Edinburgh, and Glasgow open soon.

By arrangement with ITV Studios Global Entertainment, Park Circus Films and Southbank Centre, London.

These special events will be on sale to the general public on Tuesday 2 May at 10.00am, RSNO season subscribers can book now. More information on subscribing to this season can be found HERE.

Link for Psycho at Usher Hall goes to RSNO site but their link doesn't go anywhere useful and event not showing on Usher Hall calendar. When are tickets on sale?
