EIFF 2017 SUBMISSIONS DATES ANNOUNCED
Edinburgh International Film Festival seeks emerging talent and announces submissions timeline for the 71st edition of the Festival in 2017, including opening date and closing deadlines for entries.
The longest continually running film festival in the world, EIFF is now preparing its 71st edition. Over the years, the Festival has continued to bring UK audiences the most innovative and exciting films from around the world. EIFF seeks to represent the most innovative and adventurous developments in world cinema, to bring worthy filmmakers to local and worldwide attention, and to provide a forum for appreciative and informed discussion of their work. EIFF is especially interested in films by emerging filmmakers whose work manifests stylistic boldness, strength of form, and the ambition to use the medium in a way that resists cliché.
At last year's Festival, we screened 101 films that came through submissions, making up 34% of the toal number of films at EIFF 2016. These included festival favourites Adult Life Skills (above), Cinema, Mon Amour, My Feral Heart and Neither Wolf Nor Dog, as well as two award winners - Simon's Cat - Off to the Vet, the winner of the McLaren Award for Best British Animation, and Shadow World (below), our 2016 Best Documentary Feature Film.
Tuesday 1 November – Submissions Open
Wednesday 14 December – Earlybird Deadline
Wednesday 18 January – Regular Deadline
Wednesday 15 February – Late Deadline
