EIFF announces 2010 retrospective strand
We're delighted to announce that EIFF's 2010 retrospective strand is 'After the Wave: Lost and Forgotten British Cinema 1967-1979'.
The retrospective will, as the title suggests, help the EIFF audience to discover (or rediscover) a host of neglected British titles, featuring some iconic names and faces.
The list of films in the retrospective will be announced with our full programme launch on 1 June, and the bold selection is set to cause a buzz in the film world.
EIFF Senior Programmer Niall Greig Fulton is hugely excited about bringing these films back to prominence.
"There are titles included that haven’t been seen on any format for years, outstanding British cinema that should be celebrated, but instead has been relegated to the odd television screening, or the confines of an old VHS tape. It’s going to be a unique opportunity to see these lost classics, which you might otherwise not see at all, back on the big screen where they belong.”
“Don’t expect the orthodox choices from the era; these films are far more exciting than that.”
EIFF is grateful to Sight & Sound for supporting this section of the programme - and you can check next month's issue of the magazine for in-depth coverage.
Winners of EIFF 2014’s short film awards and two of its documentary premieres have been nominated for 2015 BAFTAs.
