Festive fun at the Filmhouse
The Filmhouse have a top line-up of films guaranteed to bring festive cheer in the run up to Christmas, from yuletide classics to kids’ favourites.
What would Christmas be without The Wizard of Oz? A seasonal favourite on the box, it’s worth re-visiting the adventures of Dorothy and Toto on the big screen. And, yes, the Wicked Witch is just as terrifying as you remember…
There will be humming-a-plenty in the audience when White Christmas plays at the Filmhouse. One of the great musicals, it features Danny Kaye and Bing Crosby as a pair of song-and-dance men, performing a host of Irving Berlin classics.
And there are heartwarming Christmas classics to be seen on Christmas Eve. The Raymond Briggs’ trilogy will enthrall kids and adults alike with The Snowman, Father Christmas and The Bear making an appearance.
Pride of place has been reserved for perhaps the greatest festive flick of all time, It’s A Wonderful Life. There won’t be a dry eye in the house by the end of Capra’s fantasy, featuring James Stewart as the troubled soul who needs guidance from his guardian angel.
Now a Filmhouse institution, the annual screening is the perfect opportunity to take a break from the hectic high street, and fill up on Christmas cheer.
