EIFF, in association with The Skinny, celebrate the best of the old with the best of the new as Scottish screen gems meet the cream of Edinburgh's music scene.

After having a good old rummage through the Scottish Screen National Archive and hand selecting three of Edinburgh's finest emerging bands, EIFF and The Skinny present Playing With The Past.

A celebration of lesser known and better known Scottish short film talent with carefully composed soundtracks, this is a one-off event that melds old and new, live and recorded simultaneously together.

Scottish culture buffs since 2005, The Skinny have quickly made their mark as a barometer for talent predicting the rise and rise of bands like Arcade Fire, The Twilight Sad and CSS well ahead of the rest of the pack.

In this case the aural delights are left in the capable hands of Edinburgh tunesmiths eagleowl, Found and Meursault that add a further home-grown twist to proceedings.

Having played Musique Cinematique at the Edinburgh College of Art back in 2006, Playing With The Past isn't the first time post-folk trio Eagle Owl have composed a bespoke soundtrack for film.

Experimental art collective Found and folky quartet Meursault also bring their own unique brand of synth driven pop and acoustic fuelled electronica to the night respectively.
