“There is no denying that dance films can produce an incomparable feelgood factor.” The List

Following its hugely successful debut in 2007, DANCE:FILM, Scotland’s Dance Film Festival, is back!

DANCE:FILM is a collaboration between Dance Base, Scotland’s National Centre for Dance and Filmhouse, Scotland’s leading independent cinema with support from Scottish Screen.

DANCE:FILM 09 is full of musicals such as Swing Time, Gypsy and Perhaps Love from China in only it’s second UK screening; documentaries, short dance films from across the world and films featuring dance for the sake of it including the opportunity to see Flashdance on the big screen as the closing film.

Once you’ve seen the film you can try it for yourself in workshops based on the films featuring, among others, an 80s Jazz Flashdance workshop, two burlesque and cabaret workshops based on Gypsy and a Bolly-Fosse workshop featuring some of the moves from Perhaps Love.

Other DANCE:FILM 09 events including special talks about Hollywood, Bollywood and a screening and discussion about The Green Table. On the closing night there will be a chance for all budding BBoys and BGirls to join in the Diamond Circles Jam Session at City Nightclub.
