Name that tune
The Cinematics provide the stunning soundtrack for this year’s EIFF trailer, and guitarist Ramsey Miller couldn’t be happier with the partnership.
It may be a serendipitous pairing, but the use of The Cinematics ‘Ready Now’ on the Festival’s 2007 trailer has generated a lot of enquiries at EIFF HQ.
The Glasgow-based band have just returned from a near four month stint on the road in the US, and were delighted with the use of the song.
“We’re not too keen to have our songs used on adverts, but with something like the Edinburgh Film Festival it’s certainly different. It looks really good,” says guitarist Ramsay Miller. “I’ve even had a few texts from friends who saw the advert in the cinema and recognised the song.”
The track comes from the quartet’s debut album ‘A Strange Education’, and life since the release of the critically acclaimed long-player has been something of a whirlwind.
Having initially gone on tour stateside to support The Bravery, the band will soon be returning to headline a number of prestigious venues.
“We’re going back to do a headline show at the Bowery Ballroom in New York, which is great because our label, TVT Records, is based there, and we’ve amassed a big fan base in the city.”
Indeed the band’s only scheduled UK show, sandwiched between road trips to the US and Europe, is on 15 September at, conveniently, Edinburgh’s Ego. Don’t miss the chance to catch them live.
