Made for Mirrorball

A signed football shirt was enough to persuade Hideyuki Tanaka to craft the cracking animated intro for 2007's Mirrorball.

Hideyuki Tanake is a long-time friend and favourite of Mirrorball, and programmer David Drummond was delighted to secure his services for the production of 2007's sting.

"Mirrorball has featured the work of Hideyuki Tanaka since we introduced the Made in Japan programme back in 2001," explains Drummond.

"This was created with sheer generosity of time and resources by him and the team at Frame Graphics. Like all the stings we've had to introduce Mirrorball, this is another fantastic job."

Drummond landed the in-demand Japanese director, who has worked on a huge range of animated and live action promos in his homeland, following a recent meeting.

"Tanaka-san is a big fan of Glasgow Celtic and when I visited him in Tokyo, I gave him a signed Shansuke Nakamura shirt. I think this sealed the deal!"

You can see Tanaka's brand new animated sting here, and be sure to check out the Mirrorball line-up for 2007.
