Velvetelvis is the world's first transmedia production house, having crossed entertainment platforms with their pioneering work on The Matrix sequels and game. Rosanna Sun and John DesJardin are visting from the company for a special event to discuss their innovations in the field of interactive entertainment.
Having started out working on the effects for movies such as Weird Science and Die Hard, Velvetelvis added a string of impressive credits to their name; Titanic, X-Men 3 and Red Planet.
They created huge waves with their videogame Enter the Matrix, working on both the Matrix Reloaded film and game simeultaneously in a hugely successful tie-in. Rosanna and John were among those involved in the pioneering game project, for which the Wachowski brothers wrote a 244 page screenplay and shot over an hour of extra foortage.
The studio has since become a unique ‘transmedia’ production house that works across all entertainment formats. In this exclusive event, in association with Edinburgh Interactive Entertainment Festival, Rosanna and John will discuss the studio’s transition into a unique facility that houses and fuses talents from film, TV, games, print and web-based materials.
