Heroin is a hard subject to tackle without invoking worn out clichés and generic attitudes, but Danish director Ole Christian Madsen has infused this subject with raw tension and renewed energy.

Nordkraft weaves together three distinct storylines: Maria, a drug-runner who selflessly helps her dealer boyfriend; Allan a former addict with a very troubled past; and Steso, a junkie who  constantly tries to rationalize his increasing habit.

As the three narratives merge together, the result is an edgy, gripping portrait of addiction? and the power it can wield over us hapless mortals.
