By all accounts it was a starry success. EIFF's Film Festival Under the Stars, held on the Mound Precinct over the weekend, brought over 2,000 film fans together for two evenings of cinematic enjoyment.
With a view of the castle on one side, and the Princes St. Gardens on the other, it was a very picturesque outdoor theatre— with the added bonus of a bar, courtesy of The Famous Grouse. As moviegoers entered the ‘cinema,’ they also received coupons for a free Ginger Grouse cocktail.“I think this is such a great idea. [The films] are perfect for me because I’m the ultimate Bond fan,” said Alasdair Fraser, who attended the second night of films.
The entire film line-up included: Dr. No, Dr. Strangelove, The 39 Steps, Whisky Galore, and From Russia With Love, plus two sneak previews of Mirrorball music videos and animation.
After this year’s successful event, EIFF and The Famous Grouse look forward to a repeat performance of Film Festival Under the Stars next year.
