Young Talents

We are looking for young people, aged 16-18, who are enthusiastic about film and who are considering pursuing a career within the film industry to make up this year's Young Talents. This is an excellent opportunity for young people that are serious about film to take part in a well established, vibrant and innovative film festival. We are offering a lucky few a free EIFF Student Pass, which gives access to Industry events, Press and Industry screenings, an introduction to the festival, and a bespoke schedule of events.

Designed to expose students to new cinema and a variety of careers, last year the Young Talents gained first-hand advice from directors, editors and writers amongst others. They also met cinematographers, Seamus McGarvey and Chris Menges (pictured above) and learnt more about the craft from these experts.

Young Talents from EIFF 2012 said:

“I got more out of the experience than I thought was possible! It’s amazing being able to speak to industry specialists face to face and get first hand advice.”

“I think I am definitely less naive about the film industry as a whole after the programme. However, I think I feel more confident in my own abilities now and feel that, if I really do put in the effort, then I can achieve my goal of working in film.”

“It was an absolutely brilliant experience, I can’t praise it enough. It was informative and enjoyable-- one of the most worthwhile things I’ve done.”

If you wish to become a member of EIFF Young Talents, you must fill out the form attached and email to Breige Swift at education@cmi-scotland.co.uk
