An Insight into the Edinburgh International Film Festival
An Insight into the Edinburgh International Film Festival is a short course offered every year by Edinburgh University Open Studies.
The University of Edinburgh’s exclusive course allowed participants the chance to analyse and discover the range and depth of the Festival’s film programming, whilst networking with fellow cinephiles. As ever, this years course offered an eclectic range of screenings and events. Participants attended six film screenings, four lectures, took part in daily tutor-led discussions, had access to an In Person event and received a 2012 catalogue.
Starting off with the Opening Night, the course covered five days of programming and could be attended by anyone from the public, no previous knowledge is required. The aim is to give participants a better critical understanding of film styles, genres and directorial approaches, set within the films' regional and national contexts.
