Guest Services Volunteers (2 posts)
2 staggered starts, 3 weeks in June, including the Festival period plus training. 2 full-time posts.
A dynamic role within the Guest Services team, who are responsible for organising guests’ travel, accommodation and schedules across the Festival, you will be a vital link between behind-the-scenes office based staff at Filmhouse and the front line welcome desk in the Festival Delegate Centre.
Your duties will vary from day to day, and hour to hour. You are likely to help pack guest bags, deliver messages and information, meeting and greeting guests, briefing guests on the Festival and their schedule, assisting guests in finding their way between venues, and generally working with the team to ensure all responsibilities run as smoothly as possible.
You will be confident, able to work on your own initiative and great at responding quickly and proactively to changing priorities. A good memory for names and faces will be really helpful in this role, as well as calmness under pressure and the ability to process lots of information that is frequently subject to change. As you may be asked to spend periods of time with visiting filmmakers, a knowledge of, or enthusiasm for, film is important, as well as a sociable nature combined with discretion and tact.
Prior to the Festival you will be assisting during office hours, but during the Festival fortnight, duties can take place from 11am through to the early hours of the morning. You will be expected to be on duty for at least 5-7 hours each day, but this is likely to be spread across the day so eagerness and willingness to work flexibly, as tasks require, is essential.
