Learning Events Assistant

A paid internship, assisting in the preparation, organisation and delivery of an inspiring programme of learning events at the Filmhouse and Film Festival.

Job Description

Assisting in the preparation, organisation and delivery of an inspiring programme of events at the Filmhouse and during the Festival, the Learning Events Assistant role includes: 

  • Coordinating the EIFF Young Talents programme - promoting the opportunity, recruiting 20 young people to participate in the programme, identifying appropriate films and creating a programme of events for the group, coordinating the group during the Festival.
  • Administration of EIFF & Filmhouse Schools Programmes - includes promotion of events, communication with key teachers, arranging speakers for events.
  • Administration of Student Critics Award Jury - liaising with Higher Education institutions to promote project, administering applications to competition.
  • Overall responsibility for online communication about CMI Education events and Youth activity, through mailings and established social media platforms.

The intern will develop key skills and experience in:

  • the development and operation of Scotland's leading cultural cinema and one of the world's leading international film festivals, working with the Programming, Screenings, Marketing and Front of House Departments.
  • scheduling, project planning, project management, administration, time management, team working, interpersonal skills and leading discussions.
  • leadership and working with young people.
  • working in a busy, dynamic, creative organisation.
  • working with a wide range of film industry professionals.

Person Specification

  • A degree in Film or related subject.
  • Excellent organisational skills.
  • Interest in working with young people in a youth arts or equivalent environment.
  • Excellent communication skills.
     

Eligibility

Creative Intern vacancies are open to individuals who meet certain criteria. They must:

  • Be aged 24 or younger
  • Hold a SCQF Level 8+ qualification related to the arts or creative industries (equivalent to an HND, first degree, SVQ Level 4 or above
  • Be unemployed, either claiming benefits but not yet on the Work Programme/Work Choices or not yet claiming benefits in which case they must make a claim for JSA to receive a referral.

Further information

Running from the end of March until the end of June (35 hours per week for 13 weeks) the postholder will be paid £6.19 gross per hour.

Normal working hours would be Monday to Friday from 10am to 6pm, however during the Festival working hours will vary to suit the programme.
