Booking FAQs
How much do tickets cost?
Prices vary according to the type of film or event. The information page for each film or event will let you know the price. There are two prices, one full price and one for concessions. You can also save money on tickets by buying in advance.
Who gets concessions?
The concession rate is available to senior citizens, students, the unemployed, equity members, children under 16 and 16-18 year olds in full-time education with proof of status. If you book by telephone or online, we will hold your tickets for collection at the Film Festival Central Box Office (Filmhouse) where you must present your concession ID.
Are there any packages or special offers?
Yes! There are two great offers for advance-booking tickets from 09 May to 18 June. For more details, go here.
I’ve booked online/by phone – where do I collect my tickets?
Tickets booked by Friday 6 June will be posted out to you. Tickets booked after this day can be collected tickets from the Film Festival Central Box Office (Filmhouse), up until 2 hours before the film is screened. After this, you can collect your ticket from the relevant venue from half an hour before the screening.
Where can I sit?
Seats for most screenings are not reserved so if you arrive early you’ll get first choice.
Can I bring my child to the cinema?
Children under three years of age are not permitted in the auditoria.
Is the film suitable for my party and me?
Because most of the films in EIFF have not been released yet, they do not hold a rating certificate (i.e. PG, 15, 18). We try to ensure that the nature of a film is conveyed clearly in the listings. If in doubt, contact the box office directly on 0131 623 8030.
How long do the films last?
The running times for each film are stated, however, most films have a short introduction and some include a Q&A with the film maker. Sometimes a feature is preceded by a short film, and this will be indicated in the programme. So when scheduling your EIFF day, remember to allow some extra time between films.
What if I’m late?
If you are late and the programme has started we will do our utmost to show you to a seat at an appropriate juncture. The cinema management reserves the right of admission and the usher’s decision is final. We will not give you a refund if you are late and we cannot get you to a seat.
