Firman Machda was born in 1983 in Bandung, Indonesia. Always a fan of art and animation, he moved to Jakarta in 2001 to pursue a degree in computer science. While studying, he also worked as a graphic designer.
His life abruptly changed during a visit to Singapore in 2004 when, while attending a design conference, he became interested and involved in motion graphics and animation. After completing his course in computer science, Firman took a job in the animation and motion graphics field in Indonesia before moving to the UK to pursue his degree in animation. He currently lives in Singapore working as motion graphic designer.
