Tom Shankland

Tom Shankland (a graduate of the NFTS) makes his feature film debut with W?Z, after being nominated for two BAFTA awards for his short films Bait and Going Down. His television credits include Clocking Off, No Night Is Too Long and Marple: The Moving Finger. Tom also works in commercials and
was featured in the Saatchi’s Best New Director’s showcase.

Before going to the National Film and Television School in 1997, Tom made a number of no-budget short films. The shorts he made at film school (Bait, Going Down, Bubbles) all won awards. Bait and Going Down were both BAFTA nominated. While he was still at film school Tom was hired to kick off a new
BBC series called Hearts and Bones. This led to TV directing work on the award-winning series Clocking Off and No Night is Too Long, a feature length film for the BBC and Alliance Atlantis in Canada. He also directs commercials. His Guardian ad was nominated for a BTAA and he was featured in the Saatchi’s Best New Director’s Showcase.

W?Z is Tom’s feature film debut.
