Having completed a degree in the History of Art at Manchester University, Jim joined the UK film industry. He was soon working internationally on numerous features as an assistant director. Jim went on to direct several stand out shorts and has subsequently developed his abilities with TV drama and commercial
spots for MTV. In early 2007, after intensive story workshops based on detailed research, Jim completed his entirely improvised debut feature, Extraordinary Rendition.

As a screen writer Jim has developed several original feature projects, working with producers like Jeremy Bolt (Event Horizon/Resident Evil) and Sarah Radclyffe (Ratcatcher/Wish You Were Here). Jim lives in London and is represented in the UK by Sean Gascoine at Lou Coulson Recording and Publishing.
