Edinburgh International Film Festival has a strong track record of creating, shaping and managing innovative Talent Development programmes across all disciplines. Our aim is to build and expand on our previous initiatives and deliver quality programmes for filmmakers across Scotland, the UK and internationally.
EIFF Talent Lab 2016 - Applications closed
EIFF Talent Lab offers thirty emerging directors, producers and screenwriters the chance to take part in our four day programme of workshops, roundtables, and individually tailored career and development advice sessions. Participants will be provided with the opportunity to be inspired and mentored by key industry professionals.
EIFF Short Film Challenge - Submissions now open!
EIFF Short Film Challenge is a short film competition open to Scottish based filmmakers. Ten finalists will be selected to screen their films at Filmhouse during the Edinburgh Fringe Festival 2016.
Scottish Film Talent Network- Rolling Applications
SFTN is the Scottish section of the BFI NET.WORK, connecting the UK’s film agencies for the first time, bringing together experienced development teams and talent centres to offer hands-on and holistic development opportunities for promising UK writers, directors and producers who are yet to make their first feature film.

EIFF Connections 2016 - Participants Selected
EIFF CONNECTIONS (previously EIFF Network) is an online development programme which offers participants access to an array of mentoring, support, advice and access to industry professionals over a nine month period.
Together with story editor Kate Leys, EIFF supports participants to build their own networks within CONNECTIONS and offers opportunities for development remotely rather than via residencies.
This initiative is funded by the Creative Skillset Film Skills Fund and by Creative Scotland.
Step Ahead Mentorship Programme- Participants Selected
Step Ahead is a bespoke mentoring programme, delivered by the Centre for the Moving Image in partnership with Film Hub Scotland and funded by Creative Scotland’s Screen Skills Fund to support film exhibition professionals in Scotland.
Step Ahead is looking for eight ambitious individuals, employed or freelance, who are working in any specialism within film exhibition and who would benefit from mentoring.
