Directors' Lab presents: Sales and Marketing

The Directors' Lab is a five-day residential development programme for six emerging UK feature film directors. The Directors' Lab is supported by the UK Film Council, Skillset and EIFF and is managed by Lifesize Pictures.

The Directors' Lab will be opening up one workshop per day between 21 – 24 June to EIFF delegates.

Lord David Puttnam Keynote Address

The Oscar-winning producer of Chariots of Fire, The Killing Fields and Local Hero, Lord David Puttnam is also Chancellor of the Open Univeristy, Chair of Futurelab and President of the Film Distributors' Association.

His keynote speech for EIFF will examine the opportunities and challenges for film and the creative industries in the transition to a digital world.  Drawing on themes raised by the Government's new Digital Britain report, his subjects will include the development of high-speed broadband, the digitisation of UK cinemas, and the need for media literacy in a digital age.

BAFTA and Shooters present 'Short Sighted', intensive days and sessions devoted to helping you get your short film exhibited and distributed.

Part One: Festivals and theatrical screenings?
Festival experts, programmers and filmmakers reveal the benefits of a strong round of festival screenings for the short filmmaker with tips on useful tools for planning festival strategy and maximising your screening experience while there.

Speakers include: Satwant Gill British Council, Philip Ilson London Short Film Festival, Katie Metcalfe Future Shorts, Liz Harkman Director Encounters Festival, and Jan Naszewski Shorts International.

Part Two: Short Film Distribution Case Study?An accomplished filmmaker takes us through the journey they took, distributing and exhibiting their film.

Part Three: The Future is Now?
How and when a filmmaker should put their film online; What opportunities exist for digital distribution through internet and VOD; Where short film exhibition is headed in this digital age including what avenues are open to short filmmakers to generate revenue.

Part Four: Networking is NOT a Dirty Word?
Participants are invited to join the panelists and representatives of BAFTA, Shooting People and the Edinburgh International Film Festival for an informal drink.

Scottish Screen presents: Hair of the Dog

Special daily events especially for industry delegates: Scottish Screen invites you to take a breather, drink and chat with other film industry professionals.

Scottish Screen hosts these informal networking evenings for delegates, each around a different theme and sponsored by industry organisations.

Sunday's networking event on the 21 will be Trailblazers – in association with Skillset.
