A Seminar for industry professionals to understand legislation, compliance and best practice when using weapons and explosives on film production.

Lifesize Pictures presents: Why Should Feature Film Editors Work on Short Films?

Acclaimed editor Christopher Barwell’s credits include Duane Hopkins’s award-winning feature Better Things (premiered at the EIFF 2008) and two New Cinema Fund Cinema Extreme short films Love Me or Leave Me Alone (Duane Hopkins, 2003) and You’re the Stranger Here (Tom Geens, 2009).
Barwell will discuss the opportunities and challenges of working in short form. Can short films provide more room for exploration of, and experimentation with, narrative and technology? Why should feature film editors continue to work on shorts?
This event will explore the creative relationship between directors, producers and editors and provide practical insight into the editor’s craft.

BBC Scotland presents: Scotland Writes

BBC Scotland presents Scotland Writes, a year long initiative to develop, inspire and celebrate writing in Scotland.
The programme will provide writers at all levels the opportunity to engage with and learn from some of the industry's most respected writers through a series of nationwide events, including masterclasses, BBC Writersroom roadshows and open days with BBC development staff.
Scotland Writes launches at the Edinburgh Film Festival with a Q&A hosted by Kate Rowland, Creative Director of New Writing at the BBC. Kate will be joined by a panel of industry professionals and some of Scotland's most prestigious film and television writers including the Bafta award winning Annie Griffin (New Town, Festival, The Book Group) and Ann McManus, who is the co-founder of Shed Media the production company behind Footballers' Wives, Bad Girls and Waterloo
Road.
We will also announce the Scotland Writes Competition with BBC Writersroom to find the best new writing talent in the country.
Scottish Screen presents: Hair of the Dog

Special daily events especially for industry delegates: Scottish Screen invites you to take a breather, drink and chat with other film industry professionals.
Scottish Screen hosts these informal networking evenings for delegates, each around a different theme and sponsored by industry organisations.
