A unique opportunity to hear more about the NESTA/UK Film Council 'Take 12 - Digital Innovation in Film' programme. The programme, which has been running for a year with 12 businesses representing the independent film industry, has been exploring how film businesses grow and survive in the digital world.
Participant film businesses and the partners they have been working with will reveal insights from this experience and a panel discussion moderated by Pete Buckingham, UK Film Council Head of Distribution & Exhibition, will draw on the experiences, concerns and challenges of the different projects.

Directors' Lab Open session: Finding Character through Subtext

Led by Marten Rabarts, Artistic Director, Binger Filmlab. Workshop includes screening and in-depth analysis of Elephant (dir. Gus van Sant).
The Directors’ Lab is a five-day residential development programme for six emerging UK feature film directors. The Director’s Lab is supported by the UK Film Council, Skillset and EIFF and is managed by Lifesize Pictures.
The Directors’ Lab will be opening up selected workshops between 20 – 24 June to EIFF delegates.
Tales from the Digital Frontier: Day 1

EIFF industry delegates are invited to attend a series of cutting-edge presentations and panels on the afternoons of Tuesday 23 and Wednesday 24 June. New Producers Alliance presents: Financing Low Budget Feature Films

In challenging financial times the NPA presents a discussion by producers and strategic partners on current trends in the financing of low budget feature films. Topics will include product placement and brand alignment, corridors of recoupment being used to bring on experienced cast and crew and is film financing embracing new models of distribution.
