A great cinematographer takes the directors chair with hypnotic results.
The legendary Christopher Doyle, whose work with Wong KarWai helped to form the visual identity of contemporary Asian cinema, relocates to Eastern Europe with this elegant thriller. Inspired by the stillunsolved murder of a Polish politician in 2001, and shot by his regular collaborator Rain Li, Doyle’s film melds conspiracy, sexual fetishism and – of course – swooningly beautiful imagery. A true exclusive to this year’s EIFF; don’t miss your chance to see it first.
