ï»żAn awesome collection of talent from all walks of the audio and visual spectrum performing in one of the most stunning venues in the UK. It breaks down like so:
Nakamura Motomichi with sounds from Babyshaker
Motomichi produces jaw-dropping visuals for exhibition, live performance and music videos. The subjects in his work often reflect conflicting natures, and can be part-human and part-monster, but also childlike and sexually deviated, and the use of color â in both his digital work and in his paintings â is limited to black, red and white. As part of An Unusal Void Motomichi will be accompanied by Edinburgh local Babyshaker, producing live electronics for this one off collaboration.
No-Domain
No-Domain are a Barcelona-based collective and regular closing night artists at the cityâs much-lauded Sonar Festival, an annual oasis of left-field electronica. Over the years they have created ground-breaking visuals for Matthew Herbert, Prefuse 73 and Four Tet and as part of An Unusual Void will be creating live visuals to their own eclectic sound.
Michael Fakesch and Taprikk Sweezee
Michael Fakesch was one half of celebrated German duo Funkstörung, who called it quits in 2006. You might know Funkstörung for their glitchy remixes of Bjork and the Wu-Tang Clan, but these days Fakesch is going solo. As part of An Unusual Void this duo will be performing Fakeschâs latest album, âdosâ, with each trackâs own specially-tailored video. Stunning and imaginative stuff.
Konx-om-Pax
Konx-om-Pax makes animations for people like Warp Records, Optimo Espacio and Universal Everything. As part of this truly original evening he will be giving an on-screen insight to the visual artists toolbox. The night will be topped off with the sounds of regular Streets tour DJ Mr. Meaks.
A truly one-off evening of visual and musical majesty.
